Results of the first round!I will keep them short and concise and try my best not to reveal anything about the AC's to the best of my ability.
Match 1: Hide and Seek Map: Rawdy Hangar Grid 1: Moonwalker's G. Man Grid 2: O-G's Juliet
The first battle of the AI Tournament proved to be a spectacular dual between two very different AC's. Both were equally agile, and had enough firepower to continue shooting rapidly. Moonwalker's AC had an early advantage, as its arm weapons tore away Juliet's AP with quick and accurate blasts. Although Juliet fired back with furious speed with its back and arm weapons, it inflicted relatively lower damage. Juliet, sensing the threat, quickly took shelter behind a massive plane and began to use its back weapons. Juliet's surprise assault overwhelmed G. Man, as Juliet seemingly used both of its back weapons at the same time, drowning MW's AC like a tidal wave. G. Man quickly jolted toward Juliet and wreaked havoc with its symphony of weapons. The AP counts were dead even, but soon O-G's creation proved to be the better AC, as its back weapons never rested and it continued to deplete MW's AP quickly with its arm weapon as well.
Time: 53 secs Grid 2 Remaining AP: 1571 Winner: Juliet ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Match 2: Quickdraw Map: Aros Highland Grid 1: Animeosou's Atlas Grid 2: Rainmaker's JACKAL
This battle ended almost as soon as it started. JACKAL charged and unleashed storms of shells at Atlas, who tried to keep a good distance away from its floating enemy. Although Atlas had great accuracy with its shots, JACKAL's ammunition pounded Atlas with tremendous and unparalleled force. The battle soon ended as JACKAL released a final, devastating lock of shells at Atlas.
Time: 11 secs Grid 2 Remaining AP: 5318 Winner: JACKAL ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Match 3: Catch me if you can! Map: Haton Factory Grid 1: Atrum's Ominia minia Dominia (I'll call it OMD) Grid 2: Shear's Quim (pronounced "keem")
OMD was quick on its leg part like none other, zipping around the map and irritating Quim, which fired relentlessly but hit little. OMD had two arm weapons that had devastating firing rates, so it got the upper hand quickly. However, Quim wasn't going to give up so easily, and closed the AP gap by rushing toward OMD and continuing its attacks in fury. It was very effective, and soon OMD was overheating, nearly running out of energy. OMD wasn't going to surrender either, and zipped away from Shear's AC with amazing speed, evading many of Quim's incoming shots. OMD slowed down a little to recover energy, and resumed its quick attacks. Quim continued to suffer from the lack of getting hits in OMD, and OMD's run and gun tactic succeeded.
Time: 36s Grid 1 Remaining AP: 2108 Winner: Ominia minia Dominia ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Match 4: Defeat by Overheat Map: Grand Arena Grid 1: Jacques' HarmlessPup Grid 2: Carnage's Axel Twin 2
The battle began with both AC's firing all they've got at each other. Since Grand Arena provided a huge, wide-open stage, the two AC's worried little about terrain and shot in frenzy. Both were equally matched, with very different weapons and strategies. Sporting a larger variety of weapons, Axel Twin 2 was able to land more shells on HarmlessPup, and seemed to be better at evading as well, as it flew high into the air and out of the pup's range. HarmlessPup intelligently backed up and shot the twin down with all its might, and Axel quickly went into overheating, followed by a complete loss of energy. Axel lost the ability to fire one of its weapons and could not boost anymore, giving HarmlessPup a great advantage. HarmlessPup seized control of the battle and pulverized Axel with showers of shells until Axel could take no more.
Time: 21 secs Grid 1 Remaining AP: 6647 Winner: HarmlessPup ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Match 5: Peek-a-boo! Map: Vina Parking Grid 1: Rainmaker's BLACK WIDOW Grid 2: Bigjon's Junk Pile
Junk Pile started the match right off by OB-ing down the driveway and shielding itself with a raised platform (possibly another driveway). BLACK WIDOW fired terrifying combinations of shots, but only a few of them hit Junk Pile. Regardless of the hit percentage, BLACK WIDOW was able to devastate Junk Pile with its shots, and the AP gap widened very quickly. Junk Pile didn't falter, and continued to use its two back weapons and arm weapons as best it could, while trying to get behind a pole, like Barda in the good ol' days. Junk Pile was successful, and BLACK WIDOW kept firing helplessly into the poles with its back weapon, without scratching Junk Pile one bit. Getting ticked off, BLACK WIDOW approached the sneaky machine and tried to shoot it down with its more accurate arm weapon. Junk Pile returned the shots at a quicker rate. BLACK WIDOW, despite running out of back unit ammo, still had plenty in its arm weapon, and was able to finish Junk Pile with ease once it got into close range.
Time: 26s Grid 1 Remaining AP: 6600 Winner: BLACK WIDOW ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Match 6: Barely a Scratch Map: Dewlight City Grid 1: Jacques' PrettyKitty Grid 2: Bigjon's FailedLaunch
FailedLaunch started the match blazing, as it fired its two arm weapons without hesitation at the FluffyKitty, which was unable to land a hit with its weapons. FailedLaunch, despite its misleading name, was quick on its feet and was able to jolt out of the kitty's lock-on for quite some time, while continuing its pounding. FluffyKitty was waiting for a moment when FailedLaunch paused its dashing, and fired with great ferocity when FailedLaunch decided to take a break. The match turned to FluffyKitty's favor, as the AP gap widened. FailLaunch's weapons, though they had extremely short firing intervals, failed to do good damage in comparison. The battle progressed with both AC's returning volleys of shots at each other, and since FluffyKitty had more firepower, it took the win easily.
Time: 21 secs Grid 1 Remaining AP: 5903 Winner: PrettyKitty ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Match 7: Neon Lightning Map: Vortex Mine Grid 1: Dark's Rex Grid 2: Animesou's Axis
Rex and Axis were almost brother and sister, being similar builds. A tank's paradise, otherwise known as Vortex Mine, was the perfect place for these two powerful competitors. Right off the bat, both AC's fired so quickly at each other that I couldn't even tell what was going on. The screen was just filled with neon colors. The AP of each AC seemed to be pretty even, until halfway through the match did Rex take the lead because it had a stronger weapon combination. Although Axis fought hard, its glory was short-lived.
Time: 9 secs Grid 1 Remaining AP: 3699 Winner: Rex ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Match 8: Aim at Death Map: Dimcage Town Grid 1: Atrum's Ominis minis Dominis Grid 2: Carnage's Axel Twin 1
Dimcage Town has a huge open area, and the two AC's, both sporting similar weapons, knew that the match will be dependent entirely on the accuracy of their shots. The AP's of both AC's depleted rather similarly, as both were in the open and fired at the same rate, taking about the same damage. Seeking a different strategy, Atrum's AC decided to take cover behind a skyscraper, and though it offered temporary defense, it proved to be a fatal error, as Axel quickly discovered OMD and landed shots with better accuracy than its adversary. Although the battle was close, Axel's larger number of successful shots gave it the win.
Time: 38s Grid Remaining 2 AP: 1491 Winner: Axel Twin 1 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Match 9: Dynamic Duo Map: Dewlite City Grid 1: Tailsnake's Forest Elder Grid 2: O-G's Barda V4
Not much to say about this battle, as both AC's traveled slowly and focused more on decimating the other with their weapons. Barda's attacks were quicker and dealt more damage, and Forest Elder's days seem to be over already. However, Forest Elder had a trick up its sleeve - an effective inside weapon, which caused Barda to lose the ability to lock on. With that in place, the wise AC slowly closed the AP gap. Its advantage was short-lived, because Barda wasn't fazed after a short period, allowing it to finish up what it started: fighting for the win.
Time: 21 secs Grid 2 Remaining AP: 3688 Winner: Barda V4 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Match 10: Map: Dewlite City (I don't know why there was a repeat, but I thinkt that happens often) Grid 1: Dark's Fenrir (you were part sharing dude...just two parts, but still. I let it go because it was pretty minor.) Grid 2: Tailsnake's Forest Giant
Another shootout took place at Dewlite City today, between the lightweight Fenrir and the heavyweight Forest Giant (as suggested by the name). Although Fenrir obviously had the size disadvantage, it proved to be good at evading many of the giant's deadly shots. On the flip side, Forest Giant was able to do much more damage than Fenrir when it DID land a shot, which also had a stunning effect that slowed down Fenrir, who needs the speed to survive. The battle was one-sided from the started, and even though Fenrir tried its best evade Forest Giant's blasts, it was still overwhelmed by the damage of the shots that chipped away its fragile body.
Time: 36 secs Grid Remaining AP: 5970 Winner: Forest Giant
These AC's and the proud architects who designed them, will advance to the next round.
O-G: Juliet O-G: Barda V4 Rainmaker: JACKAL Rainmaker: BLACK WIDOW Atrum: Ominia minia Dominia Jacques: HarmlessPup Jacques: PrettyKitty Dark: Rex Carnage: Axel Twin 1 Tailsnake: Forest Giant
If you guys can't wait for me to describe the AC's right now, feel free to request it. If I get enough requests, I'll do it. If not, I'll wait until the tourney's over.
Matchups will come soon. It's not in bracket style; I'm going to do random placement again.

Forest Elder couldn't hangle a midweight heavy gunner (knew this from my tests), yet it could take out most tanks and most bipeds, I'm sad to see it go. I'll be surprised if the Giant gets past next round

You guessed right, Tailsnake...it was somewhat of a tank fest, and I'm pretty sure that it'll continue to be that way.
I guess I'll let this slip - neither of my AC's are tanks, so I'm biting my nails right now.

Well, I frown upon making tanks (after discovering something about Widower and finding out truly how cheap they are no matter how you look at them) and I thought that most of us here share the same sentiment. Oh well..
I'm not trying to say that I mastered tanks or anything, so please don't get me wrong.

what did you discover about widower? and tanks have always been rather cheap (an stale).

Just a little something about the AI that I'm impressed with and can modify for my own evil purposes. I was actually "researching" Widower for quite some time, and tried to perfect it so that it can withstand and maybe even be a more formidable opponent against quick overheaters. I have to say I was quite successful, and modified versions of Purist White have proven so. After that, I said bye bye to making tanks and focused more on competing with bipeds and quads.
The data's not in my PSP anymore (replaced by AC's like bz-OVERLORD, my Cetus user, and now the two AC's that I've entered for the tournament), so I can't really "prove my point." Consider this a useless rant...lol.

Meh, I've never really been interested in tanks (really, look at my hanger Giant will be my first tourny tank ever), so it doesn't really bother me. Like I said before they're designs are generally stale and uninteresting (not to mention cheap).

Agreed.
O-G's Barda V4 is VERY impressive, and I was delighted to see it back in its original..or improved, form. It's a great example of a non-tank build that PWNs in the battlefield.

Yikes, sorry Jacques. Out of my rush to get something in for this tourney, I forgot about the no-part sharing rule. Won't happen again . Edit- Still, I got what I deserved having my 1st AC defeated by TS's forest giant, lol.

>>>About the tank-build. Yeah, I thought it would be like this. But banning tank-legs is banning too many parts already -- most of the back weapons will not even be look at. Like I said, we'll ban as little as possible. This time, we do see lots and lots of interesting tank, so it's good in a way. Which (coincidentally) also saves me the time of building -- ahahaha! edited: I did found (as some of you have) some interesting ideas for future tank build while revisiting my old files though, and they probably will make an appearance in future battles. Call them "cheap", call it what ever anyone wants, the way I see it, if the goal is to build-to-kill, then a tank will do, for it is what it is for. With so many restrictions, I predict that in the next league, a tank build will be top ranker.

Just build base on your feelings bud. That's the most humanly "logical" decision. >>> edited: I personally don't have any prefrence, even though, it seems I build mostly quads. I usually build ACs for what ever the situation calls for (don't we all do?). They aren't the most powerful, but do make good use of whatever the situation is. Hey, I was thinking... Hmmm. What is the next touranment them anyway?

Anyway, Rainmaker. I was surprised that you would enter something like Jackal.
My bad, guys. There is NO auto-advance yet because I have ten AC's left so there will be 5 battles. THEN there'll be an auto-advance.

HA! I surprised you! (*search for Shear) Actually, I was going to do something a little more beyoud, but the AI wouldn't allow and saving it for some bigger touranment. These tanks will probably rule the next league or touranment, as more and more people play around with them. (It's not a beauty contest! *flex tank muscles)

About the results, I was surprised myself. I was fully expecting to lose, I mean -- I am going against Animesou and Bigjon after all, and I have very little data on my 2 ACs (was wayyy too lazy to go through fully testing it and too long ago to remember how well they do, especially with the ACFF architects growing so rapidly. Oddly enough though, BLACK WIDOW took out a recently modify CERBERUS... so it's back to the drawing boards.)
