This provdes a brief tutorial on how to take screenshots using your PSP (no camera required)
First of all, you need to gather the required materials and follow their respective instructions:
1) a PSP with firmware version 1.5
NOTE-- If you have a PSP with firmware version 2.0, 2.5, or 2.6, then you will have to downgrade. please refer to www.psp-hacks.com for directions and files required for downgrading.
2) Download and install IR Shell and/or Devhook sample launcher .4X
NOTE-- IR Shell can be downloaded from www.irshell.com
NOTE-- To use devhook properly, you need a dump of firmware versions 2.5 or 2.6, preferrably the latter. I will not provide a link to these files, you'll need to find them yourself
NOTE-- Devhook can be downloaded from various PSP sites, including but not limited to:
pspupdates.qj.net
www.psp-hack.com
www.ps2nfo.com
Please keep in mind that some sites will required you to register (registration is generaly free of charge). The best site to look for mods and such for Devhook is www.ps2nfo.com.
3) If using devhook, Download the devhook screenshot mod from here (direct download)
NOTE--Once devhook is installed (if you're using it), copy the contents of the archive onto your memstick (what's insidep the MS_ROOT folder, not MS_ROOT itself)
NOTE-- MAKE SURE you have a directory in your PSP/PHOTO folder called CAPTURE. if this folder does no exist, create it.
Now if you have installed everything correctly, select your preferred application from the memory stick under the Game section.
FOR IRSHELL
Once IR Shell loads up, push the analog nub DOWN. This wil launch the UMD you have in your UMD drive
When inside the game, press the MUSIC buton to snap a screen shot.
photos are saved under the following directory:
ms0:/PSP/PHOTO/SNAPSHOT
for Devhook
Once devhok loads up, select the appropriate options from the various menus, making sure that your are loading either firmware 2.5 or 2.6. Once the system restarts and your selected ga,e automatically launches, use the following controls to take screenshots:
MUSIC Button -- Full size screenshot
MUSIC button + Vol (-) -- 1/4 size screenshot
L + MUSIC button -- Start/Stop continuous ful size capture (must HOLD to stop)
L + MUSIC button + Vol (-) -- Start/Stop continuous 1/4 size capture (must HOLD tp stop)
all screenshots are saved under the following derectory:
ms0:/PSP/PHOTO/CAPTURE
