BATTLEGROUND: LEPTAS ARENA
Rank 9 Battle
Grid 1 (Challenger): Genocide- Tailsnake
Grid 2 (Defender): Zeratul- uxnr/Oonga-Boonga!
[glow=grey,2,300] An astounding match was held in the Leptas arena between these famed ACs, worthy of their respective spots in the Alpha league. Zeratul’s cerulean eye brimmed with an almost cocky confidence, knowing very well that its home turf would give it an enormous advantage. But Tailsnake’s Genocide had been known to pull a cat out of the hat in the past, and stunned the audience in this brilliant, pro match.
Zeratul’s first move was heating up its opponent with an inside napalm. Bursting into flames, Genocide was less than capable to dodge the incoming micro missiles spawned by its agile foe, despite having a core equipped with anti-missile capabilities. However, this proved to be nothing more than a setback, as it was able to counter quite easily due to the small fighting space provided by the arena.
Zeratul’s movements faltered as it was showered by a bombardment of explosive bazooka shells. The high impact of these powerful shells was devastating, but architect uxnr showed the audience that his AC was much more than another pretty face. Having a strong AI capable of impressive jumps, Zeratul sprayed Genocide with a wave of searing heat provided by a nichirin, which only intensified the napalm effect.
Genocide did its best to side-strafe as it had done with good timing in its bouts with Despair II, but failed to live up to the same level of performance. No matter how frequently Tailsnake’s AC jumped or evaded, a column of flame always ended up in its path, ensnaring it in a deadly, nearly inescapable trap. The combination of micro missiles only made the situation worse.
About three quarters into the match, Genocide had finally escaped the assault and began to shift the tide. Zeratul’s collapse came because it was no longer able to use the nichirin when both ACs were on nearly opposite ends of the arena. It tried its hardest to attack with EO shots, but they proved too weak, not quite fast enough, to be a primary form of attack. It also attempted to use micro-missiles, but again these were avoided in part from the cancellers emitted from Genocide’s core.
At this point, the battle was a monopoly. Genocide rate of damage was frightening, each dual bazooka attack knocking off Zeratul’s armor points like pop cans. Yet, Zeratul did not go down without a struggle, showing the greatest effort in attempting to end Genocide’s rise in the ranks.
It seemed as though Genocide would someday live up to its namesake, defeating one of the most prominent in the Alpha League.

Grid 1 Final AP: 4757
Grid 2 Final AP: 0
Winner: Genocide
Credit Rewards/Comments:
- Genocide gets 2000cred for AP remaining, fifty style points because while its movements were slowed down greatly from the heat, it was able to maintain a constant, albeit somewhat shaky assault.
- Zeratul gets 750cred minimum, as well as 250style points for showing off a surprising solid AI. The leaping tactics were great and allowed it to get within nichirin range for a good, long part of the battle. The micro missiles were icing to the cake, and it never allowed Genocide to get behind it (I don’t think). It showed good battle prowess in the Leptas Arena.
- Again, another surprising battle. I did a rematch and Zeratul absolutely pwned Genocide with massive heat and micro missile spamming. With this tough victory under its belt, there is little doubt in my mind that Genocide will get to the Omega league with ease. BTW Oonga-Boonga surprised me at how he's progressed as an architect, Zeratul and Barda are quite solid designs giveen that they fight in an appropriate arena, but I didnt get to experience them first hand until recently.
