Stage: LPM Furnace
Grid 1: Ominia (rank 38) Grid 2: Ancient Red (rank 39)
Being in the first battle of the Regular League, the two AC’s, both standing low-ranked, hesitantly stepped into their positions in the boiling LPM Furnace. Locked rigidly in their place, and nervously awaiting their first battle, both AC’s boosted and sprung out of the ground as the announcer exclaimed, “GO!” Ominia, being the more agile, with its speedy boosters, strafed left and right behind the giant furnace and slowly closed in on Ancient Red. Ancient Red was jumping in place, waiting to pounce at the approaching dual-machine gun wielder. Ominia took the bold initiative to boost itself into the open, away from the furnace to get a clear view of its opponent, and quickly saw itself stunned on its feet by a napalm rocket and a blast from a grenade launcher. Even though it was covered in flames, Ominia valiantly jolted out of Ancient Red’s sight to get behind him, but Ancient Red spun around quickly with its four legs and shot another piercing round from its grenade launcher, followed by a barrage of machine gun and solid EO core shells. Ominia was petrified as it read its temperature, “1317,” but still attempted to steer clear from Ancient Red’s assault. The attempt improved little, as Ancient Red’s barrage drove the fleeing Ominia back to the furnace. Ominia fired a few rounds from its machine guns to try to repel the onslaught, but was devastated to see its energy plummeting to a thin red line and AP nearing 0. As Ominia tried to take one more daring leap and strafed to Ancient Red’s side to land more rounds onto its pursuer, it was stopped cold by a blast from Ancient Red’s grenade launcher in mere seconds. Ominia became silent as it kneeled down, and Ancient Red dropped its arms and gazed at the giant furnace above, which hummed a solemn song.
Length: 24s Grid 1 Final AP: 0 Grid 2 Final AP: 6553 Winner: Ancient Red
Ancient Red receives 2000 pts and moves to position 38.
Ominia’s will receive 750 for being able to quickly boost away from Ancient Red's attacks even though it encountered lasting overheating problems throughout the match, and was able to land quite a number of machine gun hits even though it was on the defensive most of the time. It moves down to position 39.
Fellow moderators: PLEASE give me comments on how to improve my descriptions (length, quality, etc.), and inform me if any information is missing. Thank you in advance.

Well, shear has put me in charge of all of the beta1 battles, and the other moderators are in charge of the other groups. I understand that Ancient Red is my AC, and that it is common and acceptable for people to suspect that I may be biased or that I may have "rigged" the battle, but in all honesty, I haven't, and I never will, so please trust me. If you feel that it's unfair for the competitors, please PM shear your questions and/or concerns.

We as mods get assigned a particular part of the league. Jacques is handling beta1, I'm doing alpha (not sure about the others).
And that was a pretty good first description, Jacques. Everything was well written and clear to understand, and the length was also at a good level (but it doesn't always have to be that long).
The only thing I can think of that are missing are the awards. I dunno if shear still wants to implement those, since TS and I dropped it in the lightweight tourney (we didnt save the reward list).

I PM-ed shear about the rewards/awards/qualifications for "style points", and haven't received a reply yet, but to keep suspicions away...I'm most likely not going to give style points or ancient red any awards yet until shear tells me exactly what they are.
To uxnr, sorry I sounded so 'cold' and/or indifferent; I'm still very frustrated about the things that SF Public Housing has done/has not done for us, so please bear with me.
Edit: Thanks a lot for the feedback, Magus. I was just kind of nervous writing my first description, so for the next battles, I'll try to keep my descriptions more concise,.

It's ok, really. I was only suggesting that you shorten the length if you don't have time to write long descriptions consistantly.
You may make the length as long or as short as you see fit, but the important thing is at least getting a general sense of how the battle unfolded.

Yeah, here's how it goes:
omega league ranks 1-5 -advancement requirement—Top ranker of alpha league must win a best of 9 battle with lowest ranker of omega league alpha league ranks 6-15 advancement requirement—Top ranker of gamma league must win a best of 5 battle with lowest ranker of alpha league gamma league ranks 16-25 advancement requirement—Top ranker of beta1 league must win on a random stage against lowest ranker of gamma league beta1 league ranks 26-40 advancement requirement—Top ranker of beta2 league must win on a arandom stage against the lowest ranker of beta1 league beta2 league ranks 41-55 etc...
I believe that only the top ranker of a league has to do more than one round to advance, in those special circumstances. I'm guessing in that case the wins/losses are posted as well as the most memorable battle.
Now all that needs to be clarified are rewards/style and the two-challenger scenario and we can get on the battles.... I think...

Even though I'm not a mod I think I'm going to point something out.
Just so you know when someone makes a challenge they should be Grid1(The usual challenger position) because who is Grid1 and who is Grid2 decides which starting spot you will be at and can change the battle depending on what stage is being used.
Like the Vortex Mine in Steel Valley. Grid2 would have a slight advantage if they chose it as their defending stage. Grid1's main direction to move would only be forward meaning it would be going strait into the incoming fire, were as Grid2 could use that as an advantage like as is or it could move to its right to hide behind the wall that forces grid1 to move strait and wait until it comes closer before attacking.
To sum it up, Grid1 can only move forward and has no cover.
Grid2 can stay in place shooting at Grid1 as it moves or can hide behind the semi-cover to the right waiting to ambush Grid1.
So who is grid1 and grid2 can change the battle results.
So thats why I think Grid1 should be the Challenger, Grid2 should be the Defender.
Not that I'm complaining about the battle, Ominia was going to Lose anyway and only had the EMC as an slight advantage. I tried making an AC that was different then my others and more of an opposite for Ominis for something Unique. And failed terribly. Even though I lost reading the battle description and getting the bonus credits for dodging (which is one of the things I tried making it good at) I was very happy to see how "The little AC that couldn't and didn't" did.
And one more thing If this is noteworthy (I think it is anyway) could you make it known to the other league mods who run the battles?
EDIT: And If the defender doesn't have a stage and you use the challenger's stage you should still have it Grid1 challenger and Grid2 Defender. Grid1 will have the advantage of being in its home turf and Grid2 would have the starting location advantage so they both have something.

it makes sense to me and btw thanks for clarifying how the battles were going down, i wasnt accusing you of being biased i just meant if EVERYONE did the battles it would most definitely become biased with brand new people who wouldnt have as many homies in this board

I'll take that into consideration, because I understand what you're saying here, since I did it backwards like this for Rex Final's battle as well (I think). But, in your case, since it was in the symmetrical LPM Furnace, I get away with not having to redo the battle. Thanks for the suggestion.

No problem lol
As I said I was just pointing something out. Ominia would have lost anyway, but I'm redesigning her now so hopefully it wont be stuck at the bottom for too long.
And btw . . .
how come your aloud to have a Carbon copy of someone else's AC?

he was allowed because hes been punished for having it at the start, he gave half hi credits to Animesue(the origional designer) and had to start at the very bottom of the league, so your not exactly "allowed" persay, but he is in this case because he explained himself(quite lengthy if you read it) and we forgave him
but dont, under any circumstances, think you can copy another persons AC.

Well, astrum, I have provided my rationale for building my AC on a topic that was deleted quite a while ago. I used animesou's weapon combo, but did not give her proper credit, and so I was suspected for copying and was punished for it. But shear has to come to the decision to allow ancient red to remain in the league because I have provided proper explanation and an apology to animesou.

Hmm... this whole talk about grids just confused me. But, IMO, I think it is okay to have the defender on grid1 because isn't giving it the advantage the point? The defending AC gets the stage choice and they would choose a stage where they have a monopoly... it doesnt make too much sense that they would choose something to their disadvanatage (ex. like the mentioned Vortex Mine, maybe). And the challenging AC has to cope with a challenge in order to give one in the first place .

Sorry Atrum, it's just that I saw it spelled "astrum" somewhere and it stuck to me.
Edit: To Atrum, and pretty much everyone else. Please post all of your comments and suggestions regarding the League on the queries thread that Magus made in the Announcements section. Thanks.
