Round 3
Battle 1 Grid 1: The Infinate Grid 2: Chimp A momentous battle was held between these ACs of great caliber: The Infinate and Chimp. Chimp’s previous performances stunned everybody; defeating both itself and the behemoth called Security. The Infinate did not fail to impress with an impressive build; defeating opposing ACs one after the other. And, with each holding an impressive record, both entered the city in complete confidence.
“READY…GO!!!”
A robotic voice blared through the megaphones, signaling the warriors into motion. There was a loud robotic clang as both of them met dead center in the battlefield, almost grappling with one another, then falling back in a bombardment of shots. Chimp boosted backwards numerous times, its motion reminiscent of the animal it was named after. It tried desperately to keep up with the speed demon called The Infinate, but fell flat on its feet.
The Infinate took full advantage of the speedy boosters that it was grafted with, zigzagging the opponent while unleashing a salvo of successive, solid shells. And yet, the demon in the hands of the Chimp grew steadily more voracious in its behavior, fangs sinking into the opponent like a hot knife through butter. Then, just when things looked like they would even out, the Infinate got serious…
Dashing to the opponent at the speed of sound, the white AC’s weapons did not fail to devastate their opponent with massive gunfire. It treaded through the water as though it were ice, showing off an impressive display of speed.
Things grew more intense as Chimp unleashed a barrage of demons from its hand, taking full advantage of the Infinates hanger swapping time. And yet, everything from then on proved to be futile once the peryton was brought out…
There was a shot, and a blinding light enveloped the city; followed by the scream of a Chimp… then it was nowhere to be found.
Length: 1m17s Grid 1 Final AP: 1667 Grid 2 Final AP: 0 Winner: The Infinate
Battle 2 Grid 1: Valkyrie Grid 2: The Exalted This, appropriately, could have been titled as the “Fight of the Underdogs.” Valkyrie, Dark’s trash bin AC, had somehow redeemed itself by making it to the third round. Conversely, Tailsnake’s Exalted had been pushed into the background a little after the impressive performances of his older brother, the Infinate. Each was seeking to go the distance for this next round… but only one could survive.
The camera panned past the city, capturing the mugs of both ACs. Both of them had a serious expression glued onto their faces, staring at each other unblinkingly.
Then, the announcer spoke, breaking the silence and animating them. Valkyrie made an impressive leap, discharging a flurry of peryton blasts at the Exalted. These blasts hit dead on, but the opponent was left unfazed.
Then came the funny part. Both ACs ran out of energy, merely jumping at each other while trying to recharge. Valkyrie struck first, but ran out of peryton ammo; now relying on its solid ammunition to win the fight. The Exalted, as usual, pelted out several energy shots while making effective use of its booster abilities.
The battle was taken under the bridge. The Exalted showed no signs of slowing down as it beat its opponent mercilessly, every blast landing like a hammer thrown onto human skin. It gained the temporary lead… but Valkyrie’s solid shots were enough to stop it dead in its tracks.
Just as the battle reached a climax… the Exalted finally stopped firing for one instance. Valkyrie swooped in for the kill, taking full advantage of the situation and closing the small gap between their AP.
Length: 1m07s Grid 1 Final AP: 642 Grid 2 Final AP: 0 Winner: Valkyrie
Battle 3 Grid 1: Blacklash Grid 2: Itself The dark one called Blacklash stood in the center of the water, waiting for an opponent to show up.
“READY…GO!!”
The announcer spoke, but the opponent was nowhere to be seen. The timer blinked rapidly as the black one stood in the middle of the city, still waiting for the opponent.
“3’00”00….2’58”00….”
Still it waited.
“2’20”00….1’58”00….”
….And waited.
“1’34”00…..1’00”00….”
….....And waited (you’re still here?).
“0’58”00….0’34’00…..”
…….And waited (why are you still reading this?).
“0’23”00….0’10”00…”
Finally, it lost patience and went out of the city. “Grid 1 out of bounds. Grid 2 wins.”
Length: 3m00s Grid 1 Final AP: 8673 Grid 2 Final AP: 8673 Winner: Blacklash
Dark’s comments: And so… the final players in this epic battle are Blacklash, The Infinate, and Valkyrie. Usually the one with the highest AP automatically advances to the finals, while the other two battle for the second spot, but in this case it would be Blacklash again… and we can’t really have that. So either The Infinate or Valkyrie will auto advance while Blacklash fights the remainder.

Well, looks like The Infinate is very likely to go to the finals I had a really hard time getting that design to work the way I wanted. The Exalted was finally eliminated (ending my dream of getting both tournament winner and runner-up places), it was a far easier design to create than The Infinate and I was really impressed by it's performance so far. What is really bothering me is my AC's susceptability to running out of energy; niether ever ran out of energy while testing, I think the fault really lies with me I knew both of my ACs really liked to walk the line when it came to energy but I never really bothered to push thier generators while testing - both The Exalted and The Infinate are paying for it now.
I'm really interested in seing the final battles, maybe we should get shear to do them and add movies?

ANNOUNCEMENT
Due to the fact that Blacklash has already auto advanced, and I would get shot if I allowed my AC to auto advance, I've decided to allow THE INFINATE to automatically qualify for the finals. The semi-final match will be:
Blacklash VS Valkyrie
And we'll have to see if shear wants to do the final battles.

Dark Comments: EDIT: You should read the descriptions first before viewing, if at all possible. VID OF THE MATCHES Semi-Finals and Exhibition Match: www.sendspace.com/file/0wl8i0Well, now I finally have a day off, so what better thing to do than finish the lightweight tourney. First up is the semi-final of Blacklash VS Valkyrie, a very interesting match indeed. And next up is a special exhibition match between Widower and the Infinate. Seriously…. don’t ask questions why, since it was not my idea. But, I gotta admit, the vid is pretty funny. Check it out, and be sure to come back later on in the day for the final battle. Semi-Final Match (for the download impaired) Grid 1: Blacklash Grid 2: Valkyrie This was both literally and figuratively a clash between black and white; as two ACs opposed each other with entirely different concepts. In past battles, Blacklash relied on a high amount of AP and powerful stun handguns to obliterate its opponent. On the other hand, Dark’s Valkyrie won with the surprisingly powerful peryton combo and fair reaction speed.
Both ACs were being forced to push their abilities to the limit in this match. Blacklash reacted swiftly as the match started, leaping up while countering Valkyrie’s inevitable peryton attacks. The clash was taken under the road, where they moved into close range while skillfully strafing around each other.
At this point, Valkyrie had run out of energy ammo and switched to its rapid handguns. Unfazed, Blacklash kept up on an unrelenting assault, jumping and showering the opponent with a hail of solid shells. And yet, surprisingly, Valkyrie kept up a marginal lead in AP as they exchanged a volley of attacks.
Then came the clincher.
Lady Luck smiled a bright, beautiful smile onto Blacklash. And oh, how it changed the tide of the battle. Valkyrie, shooting too frequently, ran out of ammo before it could finish off its opponent.
Blacklash was saved from despair.
Some of the faces in the crowd faltered as they read the dreaded text appear on the monitor: Grid 2 has run out of attack capability. And so the remainder of the battle became quite anti-climatic. Blacklash continued its raid with dual handguns, shaving away Valkyrie’s AP until it attained the lead, and finally won the battle. All Valkyrie could do was dodge in vain. Length: Grid 1 Final AP: 1700-ish? Grid 2 Final AP: 0 Winner: Blacklash I can’t really tell the numbers due to the blurriness and quick motion of it going by, sorry about this guys. Exhibition match description is the next post, hope it amuses you.

EXHIBITION MATCH INTRO
He wanders from the city, looking for a place to retreat while the semi-finals take place.
The journey takes days, possibly even weeks, but at last he finally arrives. The place appears to be a spacious parking lot, its walls painted in a lime green tint. “Now I can finally relax…” he mutters.
…And yet, it could not be any more than the opposite…
The Infinate leans against the wall, just about to fall asleep. His eye blinks casually as he looks in front of him… and spots a massive, distorted figure in the distance. The shape of it is blurry, but it appears to be hidden behind one of the pillars.
“Keh keh keh…”
The figure lets out a twisted, malevolent laugh as it moves in closer, features becoming more and more prominent. It is a grey tank build, with a gigantic bazooka on its left arm and quad cannon on back. Moving closer, the Infinate can confirm the killer, blood lusting look in its eye with one-hundred percent accuracy.
It is pure evil.
“I’ve been waiting for some more victims to arrive…” the figure speaks. He holds a contorted blue object with wires come out of it in his right hand… the Infinate realizes with trepidation what it is.
“Number 25 of the R-league… Experience,” he says aloud.
“Yes…. to be honest, that one was only an appetizer.”
He looks at the tank in disgust. “You monster…I’ve heard about you. You’re that wandering AC who’s been hunting down unsuspecting ACs…. I think they called you ‘Widower’.”
The tank laughs. “Correct.”
Hearing all he needed to hear, The Infinate draws his handguns, preparing to strike…

CONCLUSION
His right arm crackles violently as a torrent of sparks emanates from it. He clutches it firmly, hiding behind a pillar as he clings onto the lasts breaths of life.
“Come out, come out, wherever you are…” Widower says in a mocking tone.
The Infinate dares a look towards the monster, taking a side glance, and notices the figure of a gray tank moving along the columns. The tank’s red eye scans the rows as he looks for his prey.
“Fine… if you don’t come out, then I’ll simply have to smoke you out…”
Horror registers on the Infinate’s steel face as he watches Widower activate the chimera, charging it gradually.
“Argh…. hafta get out of here before its too late…!”
He makes a mad dash for the next pillar, but just as he does he hears the aftermath of the beam shot.
*BOOM!*
He looks back, observing as an energy beam pierces through multiple pillars, creating a large hole in the opposite wall.
“Aha…there you are…!” Widower says suddenly.
The Infinate gasps as he realizes that the tank has spotted him, and continues his dash towards the exit. Widower charges another beam, targeting with pin point accuracy, then…
*SHHOOMM!!”
The beam travels through the air at lightning fast speed. The Infinate, desperately running with every ounce of his remaining ability, closes in on the exit.
The beam gets closer.
The Infinate stumbles towards the light of the outside world, making every last use of its long legs. Then, much to his alarm, a door starts to close in on the exit.
“Shi............!! I gotta make it… fast!”
He barely dodges the beam, but it nicks his left arm. Widower moves in, charging another.
“You can’t escape… resistance is futile!”
But the Infinate barely listens. He checks his power gauge for a moment.
10 percent remaining… that’ll have to do…
Eyes lighting up with a sudden fierce determination, The Infinate activates its boosters in a brilliant flash of blue light…. then it makes a power slide underneath the door, just before it closes in.
“NOOO….!!”
He hears screams of dismay from behind the door, but he doesn’t care. He runs back to Dewlite City without looking back… where he knows Widower will not follow him.
And, thus, making the Infinate the first AC who has seen Widower’s face and ever escaped… alive.
Again, finals will be posted later, and enjoy the mini-story until then.

VID OF FINAL MATCH Blacklash VS The Infinate www.sendspace.com/file/3zi1ej Final Match Grid 1: Blacklash Grid 2: The Infinate The sun set on the horizon of the twilight battleground, revealing two figures standing face to face in the murky waters of Dewlite City. To the left was the black diamond named Blacklash, who was renowned for having near impenetrable armor; as well as having the means to crush any type of opponent. To the left was the swift, white Infinate, a lightweight with good turning ability and lightning fast hanger changing speed. Both were fighting the battle for their own motives, but only one could come out victorious… and only a thing was for certain. Neither would go out without putting up one heck of a fight.
There was a momentary pause as they stood opposite of each other, fingers resting steadily on their gun triggers. Blacklash narrowed its beady eye, as if attempting to stare down the opponent, but then…
“READY….GO!!”
The voice resounded like a gunshot as it registered into the AIs of both ACs. Blacklash snapped forth like a crocodile, guns ablaze as it shredded away into the Infinate’s AP. The Infinate slipped behind its opponent, doing a 360 turn while spraying gunfire like an aerosol can. This process repeated several more times, with neither getting a solid combo in, but then that all stopped with a change of scenery.
The Infinate was cornered, trapped between both a pillar and the AC called Blacklash. But yet again, it strafed behind the opponent, making for a complete role reversal. Diving in, the white AC nearly knocked its opponent onto the wall, firing like a maniac. One swift counter later and Blacklash had both of them rid of the problem entirely.
Taking a back slide, it continued a rampant bombardment of shots onto its hapless opponent. The Infinate was clearly taken aback; looking as if it were being forced down for a moment, but it quickly regained its footing. Boosting up, it did yet another strafe behind the opponent and picked up the attack from there.
It seemed as though the ACs were shooting with perfect unity, matching every shot they took with one of their own; yet Blacklash was able to retain a solid lead in AP. Their movements became sporadic from then on, having no distinct pattern; instead they relied partly on instinct to guide them in dodging, jumping, and executing battle tactics.
The equivalent changed was soon stopped as Blacklash began to chip into the heat of the Infinate, stopping it momentarily with an relentless rate of fire. But it was too late for the Infinate to do anything, for it already lost more than half of the AP that its opponent currently had- 1400AP to 700AP.
In a large explosion, the inevitable occurred…
“Grid 2 Destroyed.
Grid 1 Win.”
Length: ?? Grid 1 Final AP: Consult the vid, as I cannot really tell. Grid 2 Final AP: ^^ Winner: Blacklash
Dark Comments: We now have a new tournament champion. Congratulations metatron and Blacklash! They performed well in this tourney, taking an odd design and proving that the different one was indeed the “best” one.
Blacklash made effective use of the weight limit, just making it if I recall correctly. But it was a good thought to pack in a lot of AP and defence. Congrats for that. And I apologize for not posting earlier, as I fell asleep again. That goes out to you too, Tailsnake, and I’m sorry that I was unable to reply last night.

I think blacklash's weight was either 6198 oe 6200 flat....heh, and I thought that its boost speed would never match that of dark's or either tailsnake's AC's to get many shots in, but to hear this I am quite delighted. Thanks to all.

That sucks, I lost in the finals again. Infinate got stuck in the pillars and took a little too much damage then it ran out of ammo at the end

Well, Tailsnake, I was expecting Blacklash to lose, as it was really the pillar hinderance that really led to Infinate's loss, IMO, and I am certainly amazed at the speed and capabilities of your build. GG.

I'm annoyed because I've seen The Infinate beat Blacklash twice when I was testing them out (for round one), It's even worse since this is the second time this has happened.
