On a partly random note...
I think we should make the rule universal for everyone to PM their designs in all tournaments.
I mean, when the new league starts up, hangars will be completely confidential, and I don't think two architects can even see what AC they're going up against until after the battle. Not only that, but they will only be able to see the body and weapons of that AC has, and not the AI or things like generators and radiators.
Those conditions may be a little tough for tourneys, so I think the rule should be like this:
PM all designs to host. Give the name of the AC's as the title. The host has absolutely NO right to look at the designs if he/she wishes to participate. Host can ONLY view the AC's after deadline for matchups and battles. He/she also needs to publicly submit his designs before deadline in public. After matchups for the first round are completed, the host shall reveal the names and information of ALL AC's in a huge post, or a series of posts (the "short AC description" isn't very interesting or effective, IMO). This will allow participants to finally see what kind of AC they're up against.
With PM in place, no one has to be paranoid about anything anymore (gotta trust the host, though) and they can submit designs at any time. In addition to that advantage, the host can give periodic updates on the number of AC's and the names of those who submitted them, and that might encourage people to submit earlier (peer pressure...lol).

GREAT IDEA!
I like it! So, then, I can just submit now.

There we go! Ok, I have submitted 3 designs to Jacques, the host.

do we HAVE to PM the designs?
there are some of us who dont honestly care if we win or lose or have 50 counter-ACs built for just us, i just want to participate in the tourney for sh*ts and giggles lol

how about just leave it for the participants to decide? I personally love surprises, so I rather go into my battles blind fold and just hope I am well prepared, and I want my opponents to feel it too.

mm, it all depends on what the participants say, yeah...
I guess we're just gunna have to live with the punctual architects and the paranoid ones coughmecough.

Hehehe, sneaky and shady... that's my taste. I want my opponents to feel insecure, kinda off-balance, unsure as what to build -- so they'll build ACs at their best. Of course, it's a double-edge sword, but that's why I love it. edited: doubts? what do you mean?

by doubts I mean...doubts about the system, and by system I mean the long PM process that I described earlier.

if participants can't trust the host, who can they trust? Especially when we're in a touranment that is run over the net like this? Trust is very important.

I'm feeling... somewhat unmotivated to type out messages at the moment. And that has also reflected the sluggish progress on my so called 'wyvern shotgunner'.
I wonder where the other admin has been, lol.

heh....I guess we can't expect EVERYONE to play AC everyday....and DEFINITELY not for them to be active in the boards constantly.
lol, if only I was rich, I would literally give out money prizes for competitions just to raise the stakes. Maybe that'll encourage some people. ^_^
