bring extra rations, run as much as possible, stop once you get into a new area to regain stamina and make sure your running isn't too linear or you'll get pounced on.

try making some mega potions or whatever they are called.

combine Power Extract with Well-Done Meats to make it
stamina doesn't decrease for like 10 minutes. Running all the way!!


Also, make sure your armor gives you Backpacking or Backpacking Expert as a skill. Really helpful.

Do you just use ruststones like a whetstone on a weapon to make it "rusty", and then improve it from there?

Wow, you must mine often. I haven't had a chance to play recently because of exams, I crashed today (sleeping only 3 hours a night while trying to finish all my projects finally caught up with me). It was my first time mining since the 3* missions, I was pretty surprised when the stone was the first thing I got.

I don't mine a lot (except to get earth crystals lol); I did the 5* "Handle with care!" elder mission. It gives ruststones as a reward.

And Jacques, ruststones are items that cannot be "used". rather you polish them at the weapon shop in order to obtain a weapon from it. Make sense? Here's an example:

-Mine a ruststone (or get it as a reward or however)
-Take it to the weapon shop
-Choose to create a new weapon
-At the end of the list, there will be a selection that says ""
-If you choose to polish it, there is a small chance that a rusted weapon will be created (small, can be influenced). Otherwise, you will get a particularly useless weapon (i.e. hunter's knife)

If you fail to get a rusted weapon, reload your data, do a mission, and try again.

BTW, each ruststone is a particular type of weapon (i.e. GS, SnS, lance, Hammer, Bowgun, or dual (maybe))

you can only hold one of each type of ruststone. Use the method I mentioned above for doing the 5* quest

You know what gives you rust stones 80% of the time killing lao Shan lung.Just pet your pig and make it jump with the big heart and then go and own Lao take a rathalos Fire sword the SnS one,and i have yet to get rust stone that makes the rusted SnS.I have like 300 some odd EC T_T.

Once you make it to like hmmm your 4* quests and on EC are nothing and if you get mining +1 you will get them up the ying yang.

I'm at 5* quests with 50 hours playtime and I only have 92

oh and i dont use other weapons like lance or even try and upgrade them im just using my sns.So yea maybe thats it xD

I just took out 4 Black Gravios (or Gravi, not sure if there's a plural), On the last one I didn't take a hit and I was able to blast open it's stomatch.

That does not work. I tried like 10 times and it's still a "Iron Lance".l

It works rain. It's a little easier if you have more than one ruststone in your inventory.
here's the method I used:

I had 5 stones. I polished each one. Kaput. I Reload, do 5 missions (to completely reset the options), then save and polish again. 3 down the line, I get a rusted weapon. Reload data WITHOUT SAVING, then do 2 missions to bring the rusted weapon to the top of the selections. And viola, a rusted weapon!

How can I make this easier... here's an example of the possibilities for polishing. You have 1 ruststone, and it has certain choices.... like so (the bracket indicates where you are on the ladder)

--[Iron lance
-Crap lance
-Crappier lance
-Not so crappy lance
-good lance, but not rusted
-crappy lance
-Rusted Lance
-not so crappy lance

In order to get to the lance you want, you must do 5 missions to bring the rusted option to the top. after one quest, the ladder is as follows:

-Iron lance
--[Crap lance
-Crappier lance
-Not so crappy lance
-good lance, but not rusted
-crappy lance
-Rusted Lance
-not so crappy lance

now you must do 4 more missions. got it?

I think the problem you're having is that after you do a mission, you don't save right after it, so you are always at the same point on the ladder. Do a quest, save, then try again. If it fails, reload, do a quest, save, and try again. It works; trust me. I did it.

What Shear said is right it does work just takes some time.But what sucks is that if you get a rusted stone that is a lance it stays a lance i need one that makes me a SNS T_T.

I got 4 rust-stones atm, but only have lance, gs, bg, and hammer. I need the SnS too. >_<
