Finally, it's time to conclude another tourney. This time around, it doesn't come off as much of a surprise that the final two contestants are Purist and animesou; who have no doubt made some of the biggest marks in the tourney scene. Once again, Purist vies for the title of LW champion much like the last tourneys winning hardshell Blacklash, and anime has progressed to the finals with a fairly innovative design. All things considered, the level of lightweight ACs has been raised up another notch in the second time through, but the real matter at hand is: How will this one wrap one? Find out below. THE FINISHED TOURNEY'S FINAL WORD ON THE FINAL MATCH
(Subtitled: The Ultimate match to end all ultimate matches? Maybe not..)StainRedVega- Purist
VS
Astroman- animesou Silence reigns. A tumbleweed somehow finds it way onto the island, looking cold and lonely as the wind brushes it aside and into the rocky cliffs. The evening sun rolls down the horizon, and things turn out quiet. Quiet and dark.
A small crunch is heard somewhere off in the distance, and a twig crushes under the pressure of a rather large, metallic foot. It has red feet... stained red feet. The distinct color of blood; and no doubt appropriate considering the number of foes fallen before it.
It's name: StainRedVega.
It exudes an air of confidence as it steps forth to face the 'other one'. There is also a green and blue hover type AC there, waiting patiently for the forthcoming battle. It is rather big and clunky, wielding two small handguns which seem to pack an incredible amount of power. Astroman.
Once their eyes meet, the glance is forever exchanged if as if locked into a staring match. Only one specific phrase sets them into motion:
“READY... GO!!!”
StainRedVega moves forward automatically, burning up much of its ammo in one explosive approach. It seems not to flinch as bullets pass and hit its arms, harming it, but rousing no serious cause for alarm. Then, it slips behind the opponent with ghostly movements, gliding around while proceeding in the rage of death.
By the look of the situation, Astroman cannot keep up with this powerful barrage as the heavy stun keeps it locked in place. Things look like they are taking a turn for the worse, and the pattern keeps up consistently without showing any signs of relenting.
Bound, shoot, and land. Bound, shoot, then land. StainRedVega repeats this specific attack strategy more than a broken record would play the same song, proving that even the most simple solutions are the greatest. Astroman, a hover who excels more at... well, hovering, than any other tactic, is forced to adjust aim constantly. Disastrous results arose from its inability to jump or mirror the opponent's movements.
For a moment, Astroman seems proud and courageous as the inevitable conclusion draws near. Despite constant drain of AP, and despite constant overheating, it managed to push Vega against the wall... but then....
The west wind howls and SDV overcomes the last ditch attempt with surprising force. They exchange positions, and, in an untimely fashion....
Astroman meets its demise.

I was doing this battle on and off, and it took long to post despite the short length. What can I say? This conclusion was rather.... disappointing, as compared to the usually exciting final battles. Not much going on. Still... we have a 2nd time LW champion. Way to defend your title, Purist, and good job anime for making an innovative yet very worthy contender. Comments and congratulations to the finalists, if you will  . |

Ah..the results are in and I'm quite pleased with how Vega has performed. 'Looks like near-max defense+shell guns is the way to go for me. But...somehow the AC I pay the least attention to during assembly manages to come out on top in the LW tourneys; I spent a lot more time trying to make sure my pulsers were all-powerful. Same case with Blacklash...
Anyway...
Astroman got me worked up to no end because it looked like it can smoke both shell gun AND pulse rifle users, so I gotta commend animesou for making an outstanding hoverer and making my average BPM for the past few days shoot high above life-threatening levels (and I gotta thank Dark for doing the latter as well...with his slacking I mean suspense-building strategies).
Also, I would like to take up forum space to thank my cheering squad (uh...that's NOT meant to be an insult) for making the tourney that much more exciting, which I guess would include tealwolf, laeq, and bigjon (dammit somehow I always type 'bigjob' first...stupid keyboard).
Finally...let's thank Dark for taking his late hours to host the tourney all by himself. I personally hope that it didn't interfere with his homework hours and drinking breaks.

awww...come on, guys, don't call yourselves losers.
I mean, the worse you think you are at something...the suckier your performance will most likely be. I think those things are called self-fulfilling prophecies. I am troubled like that at school (if only I was more conceited and arrogant at SCHOOL....lol).
Anyway, there are plenty more opportunities here as long as we're still around, and maybe as the themes of the tourneys get more specialized or more wacky, everyone will be able to claim a "specialty" of their own.
Also, I'm gunna feel terrible everytime I get a victory anywhere if my opponents call themselves "losers" afterward....

Heh, don't be surprized, you've won most of the tournies here, heck you won both corp based tournament, ( Gah! *grumbles grumbles* ), keeping that streak of wins will only lower our self-esteem instead of motivate us, heck I was motivated for this tourney hoping I'd beat your ACs but due to certain circumstances, wrong ACs at the wrong time costed me the tournament.
*rant rant rant 'I'd blame Dark for this because of his choice of match ups but.... it was random so.... gah!' *scratches head furiously**

hmmm... maybe for the next tourny we could have it so in the first round we can choose who we go against, but both Architects have to agree on it... that way someone who's really good can't go up to a newb and take them on without them wanting to... But it's only for the first round. And of course you can't have your own AC's match up against eachother... then whoever doesn't have a matchup, Dark/Laeq can randomize the rest...
