Jacques, I finally got the poison axe.
I also have a Red saber+ too, upgrading to dijin saber once I get a marrow.

So, now that I am not clueless anymore. Here's how to get it.
Do the guild quest that ask you to kill 3 ledorm, they will give you the poison sac.

I've beeen killing rathy with Flashbombs + First-aid. I'll try out demon drug and come back with results (going to use it on ReoSoul)

ah, this is so nice. I just upgraded to poison battleaxe.
sharper and more poisonous.

rathalos is actually easier to fight with this axe.

dont forget to get some good meal from the chefs. get strength plus. I got "ultra cat lucky skill" whim skill from some food. super nice, too bad I wasn't paying attention at the time, now I have lost the recipe. hmmm. I'll get it back someday.

I love the food, they make you super strong, super lucky, or whatever to prepare for whatever fight is coming up.

Dodge and Block
Try to get inbetween the legs of the dragons, they have trouble hitting you there
Bring potions

Yeah, like TS said. more importantly, for every new monster you face, watch it's movements carefully. They sometime will try to trick you.

I was kill by a FREAKING GYCEROS playing dead! AAAAAHH!

These monsters' got some serious temper, so be very careful, or you'll be eating dirt in 3 hits.

wow, Gyceros was easy for me, Rathy was probably the hardest I've faced so far.

When fighting Kut-Ku don't piss it off, I've been combo'd to death by raging kut-kus far too often

Did it ever play-dead on you? The "Slay the Gyceros" quest was so freaking annoying my first time.

I'm using Gospel.

When I first faced Gyceros I was able to kill it before it could try that. When I fought it later I already knew about the Playing Dead thing from warnings on Message Boards.

I am using the Deathprize, Poison Battleaxe and Red Saber+ for now. what about you?

What do you mean by "Play dead"?
Do you mean when it falls on the ground and starts squirming? Probably not...

Anyway, I've never had it do anything like playing dead...

And I am currently using the poison battleaxe. I recently acquired the Raven's SnS (made from Yian Garuga parts), though it's not that great right now.

I plan to get the PBA soon since I currently don't have a SnS - I'm also going to get the Red Tail (spear) when I get 2 more Rathy shells

It falls down as iff dead then stays there for a few seconds. After that it starts thrashing and does massive damage if you're near.

Gypceros is easy. So is Rath now that I have that poison battleaxe (i was using Cyclones before)

The last actual quest I completed was "The Smoke Clad King" with the azure Rathalos.

I have been basically gathering materials mostly. Garuga still freakin rapes me for the first 3 times I do his quest, then I kill him like 5 minutes into it

not really, but it's 240 poison rating REALLY helps with killing things like Rath and KK

ever since I got it, I haven't lost to Rath (regular or azure)once. same goes for KK

I'm a few upgrades off from it now, I just need to build up some cash.

do the velocidrome 2* quest (that's what I do); 1100 monies (lol), and lots of things to sell for monies (vdrome claws, flash bombs, etc), and it only takes like 3 minutes to finish it.

I usually do the Gyceros quest: 2600 + a bunch of useful items (poison sac, light crystal, rubbery hide, etc.)
